History of the Blois Castle
Since 1869, on the 1st floor of the Louis VII wing, the royal castle has housed the Museum of Fine Arts of the city of Blois. With a collection of 35,000 works, this museum has been renamed the Musée de France. However, the presentation of the works is not related to the apartments furnished by King Louis XII. They provide more insight into court life and the castle’s royal past.
These thousands of works are grouped by theme. While others are also exhibited in the royal apartments or reserve for temporary exhibitions or placed in other museums in France. Over time, more than 300 paintings and works of art have been donated or acquired by the castle and form an exceptional collection, not to be missed.

In addition, the Royal Castle of Blois lights up every evening from April to September. Light projections on the sumptuous architecture of the castle and its courtyard are organized for an evening.
