The Saint-Jean of Beauregard’s castle
The Saint-Jean of Beauregard’s castle is located in the region of Essonne (91), only 30 minutes from the south of Paris. You are invited to live a unique experience surrounded by nature. Positioned in the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Natural Park, the visit of the castle is fascinating, both due to its architecture and its surrounding areas.
François Dupoux, the landlord, was King Louis XII’s private adviser. He was responsible for the building of this impressive monument, whose construction works began in 1612, in order to replace the Montfaucon medieval manor house, which was in ruins.
This castel perfectly preserved, built in light sandstones and cut stones, has preserved all of its magnificence. The property brings together the essential elements of peoples’ daily life in the 17th century : chapel, communal areas, stable, vegetable garden, dovecote, orangery, trough, moats…
Many occupiers will follow one another in this vast residence. Since 1879, the castle has remained inhabited by the same family ! The current owner maintains the places in order to protect this heritage, classified a historical monument on the 5th July 1993, and will welcome you in a warming atmosphere.
They decided, in 1984, to restore the vegetable garden. This masterful creation, classified a remarkable Garden, reshuffled over the seasons, mixing flowers, fruits and rare or forgotten vegetables, grape greenhouse, etc, form a set of extraordinary colours. A real delight for the horticulture amateurs.
Every year, many nursery owners and creators gather for the Plants party. A good deal for all visitors to make the most of the aromas which perfume the property.
In the 19th century, a park with an English style completed the French-styled park of the 17th century. You will admire different tree species : oak, ash, apple tree, sweet chestnut, cedar, horse chestnut tree… not forgetting the bicentenary lime tree along the path.
The castle has seven courtyards. One of them, around the magnificent communal areas, leads to a dovecote. Made with 4500 compartments, a double ladder which can spin 12 meters, and an astonishing framework, it is one of the biggest dovecotes of Ile-de-France.
Inside, the charm of the refined decorations of the outdoor living room, library, green living room and the dining room will fascinate you. You will be amazed with the furniture, the portraits and the exposed family memories.
The Dampierre estate
Either on a horse-drawn carriage or on foot, the guided visit of the Dampierre-en-Yvelines estate, located in the Chevreuse valley, jewel of the 17th century, would transport you back to the old days.
Enclosed by a wall of 14 meters long, this estate incorporates the sumptuous private castel, classified as a historical monument in 1928, built by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, architect and the king superintendent.
This building, which was the house of the family of dukes of Cheuvreuse and Luynes, has received the greatest king of France as well as illustrious figures such as Dali.
A forest park of 400 hectares and magnificious gardens realised by the famous landscaper André Le Notre and a coupling museum perfectly blend in this environment.
You will see boars, deers and other wild animals living in liberty in the former no-hunt zone.
Natural and historical, let you pervaded by the places’ beauty! The water, omnipresent (vast canal, shower room, ponds) add a romantic touch.

You will be welcomed by a speaker of the Saint-Jean of Beauregard’s estate for a visit to the castle, the French-style vegetable garden covered in flowers and the dovecote.
You also will be able to enjoy its garden and its park, chapel, communal areas, stables, orangery, trough, cold room, moats…
The Saint-Jean of Beauregard’s estate is a 17th century complex, its charm sealed by the name of Beauregard. Indeed, the site stretches on an exceptional view. The castle is still inhabited.
All year, it gives off an exceptional energy and a warm ambiance that you will not fail to notice.
The French-style vegetable garden covered in flowers spans over an area of 2 hectares and is completely walled, where it mixes in an organized fashion, flowers, fruits and rare vegetables.
The vast dovecote of 4500 putlog holes (holes in the walls which allow pigeons to nest).
The park, designed mostly in a French-style, with oaks, ashs, sweet chestnuts, hornbeams, cedar, horse chestnut tree and several natural varieties.

You will leave the Saint-Jean of Beauregard’s castle for lunch in a restaurant situated inside the natural park of the upper Chevreuse valley. You will be served a formula (main course & dessert) with drinks and coffee included.

This fantastic castel of the 15th century, is refurbished in the 17th century fashion in order to satisfy the new owners. Jules Hardouin Mansart, first King Louis XIV’s architect and superintendent of the king building, in charge of certain buildings in Versailles, took the direction of the Dampierre castle modernization, in compliance with the de Luynes family’s rank, its owners.
Divided in 2 groups according to the number of participants, you will travel into this castle and beautiful estate of 90 hectares for almost 1 hour. Guided by a speaker aboard your private horse-drawn carriage, you will also get to meet the fauna that reside there.
