Visit the Paris Mint

Visit one of the oldest french institutions: The Paris Mint. Built in 894, the national monetary institution of France has the goal to make the national currency of France. Created under the reign of Charles II by the edict of Pîtres, this art workshop has been located at 11 Quai de Conti since 1775.

A real natural visit, the Paris Mint offers a fun tour around the metal art. We also discover a precious objects collection, the production secrets and the remarkable savoir-faire of this manufacturing facility still in operation in Paris.

Since 2007, the Paris Mint is a public establishment of an industrial and commercial nature. It has around 500 employees and is divided into two sites: The Hotel of the Paris Mint and the monetary establishment of Pessac, in Gironde.

Apart from its sovereign mission, the Paris Mint also practices commercial activities such as the creation of fonts of art objects and jewels, under its own brand. In addition, the establishment is also in charge of the museum management and the Hotel of Paris Mint maintenance. It contains a centre at Pessac responsible to analyze and fight against the forge coins in all of Europe.

Museum of the Legion of Honour and the Order of Chivalry

Inaugurated in 1925, the Museum of the Legion of Honour and the Order of Chivalry offer you a visit out of the ordinary across time and different cultures. Among its 5000 unique collection pieces in the world, discover the history dedicated to the decorations, medals and order of chivalry, both french and foreign. The museum also retains several Napoleonian memories.

Located in the Hôtel of Salm, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, the Museum of the Legion of Honor and the Orders of Chivalry offer a breathtaking view on the Esplanade of the Musée d’Orsay, making the visit more pleasant and charming.

During this visit, you will also be able to understand the activities and missions of the Legion of Honor. Indeed, the museum organizes exhibitions that are both fun and educational, throughout the year.

The Museum of the Legion of Honor and of the Orders of Chivalry consist of several thematic areas devoted to the history and creation of the museum, but also to the various French orders, decorations and medals from 1789 to the present day. We find chivalrous, religious, royal, imperial and foreign orders.

You will find a permanent exhibition space dedicated to French medals, as well as a collection of badges, constituting real precious gems.

The Museum of the Legion of Honor and the Orders of Chivalry is the only museum devoted to phaleristics, which aims to analyze and understand the existence of orders, decorations and medals, by providing essential dating tools.
